The City
of Des Moines Council Archives System is designed to facilitate citizen access
to archival city council minutes, resolutions, and ordinances from 1959 to
present.
The
original paper records were scanned and the scanned images were then digitized
for presentation on the Web. The content, sequence, and image quality
among the records will vary depending on how they were originally written/typed
and subsequently scanned. In some instances, certain information may be
illegible.

To facilitate searching the first
paragraph of all Ordinances and Resolutions has been text indexed. This
paragraph typically contains a description of what subject the particular
Ordinance or Resolution is addressing.
All council minutes dated 1999 to current
are fully indexed and can be searched in their entirety. Minutes prior to 1999
are available for viewing as scanned images only.
